palace in the left

Video 2012

‘Palace in the Left’ charts a web through hyperlinked information. Scraping fragments to text about the religious, scientific, fossil and cultural histories of humming birds, photosynthesis, quantum physics, cloud formation, suspension, and arti cial intelligence. Narrated by a voice synthesiser it charts a reflection on the impact of information technology on knowledge and the sinister spread of computerisation into our lives and homes.

Slow paced video of humming birds, Greenland from the air, light prisms on Spiders webs, sunlight through leaves, cloud formations and bubbling crystals struggles against the droning voice and repetitive electronic music in a dance between empirical seduction and rational distancing.
